Don’t Overcomplicate things!

Sometimes, especially when you’re first starting out or attempting to get back into shape, it’s more beneficial to utulize the K.I.S.S. method. You know…Keep It Simple Stupid.

I read an article recently quoting Stanford neuroscientist Andrew Huberman about the “secret” to longevity being 150–200 minutes of Zone 2 cardio per week. Zone 2 is described as that magical heart-rate range where you can hold a conversation but are still working. The idea is that if you hit this sweet spot, you’ll get all the benefits for your heart, metabolism, and lifespan.

I respect the science. I’m all for data that helps us understand our bodies better. But let’s be honest: articles like this often do more harm than good for many people. They make movement feel like another complicated, high-tech project to get right.

Suddenly, the simple idea of going for a walk becomes stressful:

Am I in Zone 2?

Do I need to get a wearable to track my heart rate?

Is my brisk walk “brisk enough”?

And too often, when people feel they can’t do it perfectly, they don’t do it at all.

But here’s the truth: you don’t need a fancy plan, a watch on your wrist, or a heart-rate calculation to move your body in healthy ways. You don’t even need to think of it as “exercise.” You just need to move—preferably outdoors.

Let’s Keep It Simple

Movement is a gift, not a chore. Walk slowly, walk fast, climb stairs, paddle a board, ride a bike, garden, play with your kids, haul wood, rake leaves. It doesn’t have to fit in a neat category, and you don’t have to hit a target heart rate to reap the benefits.

Our ancestors weren’t calculating their “Zone 2 minutes.” They moved because life demanded it—and they often did it outdoors, under the sky God made.

Clean Fuel and a Clear Mind

Movement is only one piece of the puzzle. We believe good health is also about eating clean, unprocessed food. It’s about fueling your body with what it was designed to use.

It’s about limiting alcohol—or better yet, removing it from your life entirely. Alcohol takes much more than it gives. Eliminating it is one of the single most powerful things you can do for your health and your mind.

Connection—The Real Secret

Finally, we believe health is about connection. Connection to the outdoors. Connection to others. And, most importantly, connection to our Creator.

Moving outside, breathing fresh air, feeling sun or rain on your face—that’s not just good for your heart rate. It’s good for your soul. It reminds you who you are and Whose you are.

You don’t need a wearable to tell you if you’re doing it right. You’ll know.

So here’s our invitation:

Don’t overthink it. Don’t make it another to-do list you’re failing. Just move. Eat clean. Say no to the things that dull your spirit. Step outside. And take time to talk with the One who made you.

That’s the real secret to good health. And it’s beautifully simple.
